Healing Through Biofeedback and Neurofeedback Therapies
Bringing Biofeedback and Neurofeedback to Austin Since 1981
Our practice began in 1981 when industry pioneer Lynda Kirk founded one of the first biofeedback clinics in Texas, providing cutting-edge, multi-modal neurotherapies to the Austin and Central Texas community. Today, we strive to surpass our own unparalleled standards of excellence with a multitude of state-of-the-art equipment, in-house analysis of data, and the most highly trained practitioners in the country. This is our story.

How it All Began
Our Journey Started Across the Globe in 1967
Austin Biofeedback was born in Austin, Texas, in 1981. But our story begins a decade earlier, when our founder Lynda Kirk joined the Peace Corps as a pre-med student in 1967. She was assigned to the Public Health sector and stationed in Dahomey, Africa (now Benin), to bring Western Medicine to underdeveloped areas. But after gaining the trust of the village’s shamans, Lynda was witness to miraculous feats of Eastern medicine – like chants, poultices, and bull roarers that brought people into altered states – and made her question everything she knew about the true meaning of “healing.”
Upon her return to the U.S., she was determined to carve out her own place in the field of health care; one that aligned less with invasive procedures and pharmaceutical reliance of the allopathic model – and more with her newfound conviction in the power of the human mind. So in 1977 she joined Austin State Hospital and began mastering the art of biofeedback and neurofeedback.
Today, she continues her work as an acclaimed leader in the rapidly developing fields of neurofeedback and biofeedback. She has served her professional community as the President of the AAPB, the President of ISNR and the President of the Biofeedback Society of Texas, along with various board positions across her career. She holds a Master’s Degree in Human Services and Counseling, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas and holds advanced Biofeedback and EEG Neurofeedback certifications as a Senior Fellow by the BCIA - recognized as the gold standard in the field of biofeedback and neurofeedback. She is also a QEEG Diplomate (EEG brain mapping).
She was named as an Outstanding Woman of Texas in 1985 after serving the beloved Austin community as the first female President of the South Austin Civic Club.
